HCP, a pioneering architectural firm in the adoption of BIM, joins Building SMART to work together in the digital transformation of the sector

One of the characteristics that has most distinguished HCP throughout its history has been its innovative spirit. In the early 2000s we were one of the first Spanish architectural firms to open offices abroad, and shortly afterwards, almost a decade ago, we were also pioneers in the adoption of BIM (Building Information Modelling), which has led us to develop more than 150 projects with this methodology. That is why HCP is proud to announce that we have just joined the Building SMART Spain association, focused on the digital transformation of the construction sector.

Building SMART is a non-profit association that was formed in 2012, and since then aims to develop and maintain international, open and neutral BIM standards; identify and solve problems that impede the exchange of information; or accelerate interoperability in the construction sector through success stories.

Over the last decade, the BIM methodology has been gradually implemented in different countries, although its scope has not been evenly spread throughout the world. That is why Building SMART is working to implement international standards of this methodology that covers both the physical appearance of a building and the information of all the elements that compose it and, therefore, affects the entire life cycle of the building, as it encompasses its planning, design, construction and management.

In fact, Building SMART is the world leader in the creation of open standards Open BIM, providing open workflows that allow the participation of all members of a project, obtaining more transparent projects, with guaranteed data quality and providing durable data that can be used throughout the life cycle of the project. As part of this association, from HCP we will share success stories of our projects in BIM, we will collaborate in national and international working groups coordinated by Building SMART or we will participate in all the conferences that the association organises in Spain. In this way, we will be able to continue advancing in BIM, as well as sharing our experience with the rest of the associates, which includes more than 9,000 homes developed using this methodology and more than 1,500,000 m2 built.
