HCP will attend MIPIM for the thirteenth consecutive year to reinforce our relations with the most important developers and investment groups in the world. On the occasion of our participation in this event, Metros2 magazine has interviewed Mario Romero, partner and Technical Director of HCP, for its March MIPIM special.
Our studio faces its participation in MIPIM 2024 after a very positive last year: “We have reinforced our staff by almost 20% and we have invested a lot of resources to stay ahead of a sector in constant change, so this last year we have integrated multiple technical advances to offer a better service and optimise our knowledge”, explains our Technical Director.
Both the growth of our team and the number of large national and international projects commissioned are some of the factors that Mario Romero mentions for HCP to have been recognised in 2024 as one of the 100 most important architectural firms in the world in the WA100 list. This is “a great incentive for the future”, but it is also faced with the “responsibility” of continuing to grow and improve. Precisely, our Technical Director highlights perseverance, team spirit and continuous learning as some of the differentiating factors that help us to maintain our sustained growth and add value to our projects, along with constant investment in talent and training.
Regarding the incorporation of sustainability in our projects, Mario Romero gives as an example the work we are developing together with Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) for the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre in Seville. This will be one of the most sustainable and innovative buildings in the entire European Union thanks to its more than 9,000 square metres of photovoltaic panels, generating twice as much energy as is required for self-supply, so that the surplus energy can be fed into the public grid to also benefit its direct surroundings.
