This morning the World Architecture 100 (WA100) list was made public. The list is published every year by the prestigious international media Building Design, which recognises the 100 most important architecture firms in the world and for the first time includes HCP in the most relevant ranking of the architecture sector at a global level. The WA100 list, whose beginnings date back to 2011, is carried out considering aspects such as the number of professionals on staff, annual turnover or the number of offices to determine which are the most relevant architecture firms on the international scene.
With a team of almost 100 professionals, Javier Higuera, founding partner of HCP, highlights that this has been one of the factors that has enabled our firm to enter this ranking: “At HCP we have always been committed to hiring professionals who want to grow and develop their career with us. This means that 70% of our team is from the “quarry”, with an average tenure of almost twelve years. In addition, in recent years we have recorded sustained growth that has allowed us to strengthen our workforce by almost 20% in 2023“.
International presence is also another of the factors analysed for the preparation of this list. In this regard, it should be noted that although HCP is a local studio, we have a clear global vocation, as we began our international career more than twenty years ago, which has led us to develop more than 3,000 projects in 34 countries and to open offices in Bahrain and, soon, in Saudi Arabia.
Alejandro Pérez, also a founding partner of our firm, says that for HCP to appear in the WA 100 for the first time is the “culmination of a fantastic year” in which we have worked on major architecture, engineering and urban planning projects both nationally and internationally. The development of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, together with BIG; the Pinomar and Angsana Real de la Quinta hotels (the latter, together with OBMI) in Marbella; or the Santa Clara and Evergreen residential projects speak of the versatility of our portfolio and the maturity of our studio, as we are capable of both leading large projects and collaborating as a local partner with other international studios whom we admire and with whom we have the honour of appearing in the WA100 list.
