Innovation, technology and teamwork: our vision of sustainable architecture at HCP

At HCP Architecture & Engineering, we believe sustainable architecture goes far beyond regulations and certifications. It’s a mindset, a way of designing, applying technology and working collaboratively to transform our cities for the better and improve people’s lives.

That’s the message shared by four key members of our team in a recent interview with the Arquitectura Sostenible Blog: Pablo Gancedo (R&D and BIM Manager), Ada Reina (Execution Project Manager), Juan José García (Execution Project Manager) and Jorge Sánchez (Basic Design Project Manager). The conversation explored HCP’s evolution, our use of emerging technologies and our commitment to sustainability as a core value.

Since our foundation in Málaga in 1986, we have stayed true to the principles that define architecture at its best: beauty, functionality and resilience. With over 3,000 projects delivered across 36 countries, we are proud to keep that founding spirit alive, creating architecture with principles.

A holistic approach to sustainability

At HCP, we understand that every decision, from materials to integration with the urban fabric, has an impact. That’s why we incorporate methodologies such as BIM, computational design and energy simulation from the earliest phases to optimize performance and reduce environmental footprint.

Our commitment is tangible: from pioneering the use of “green concrete” in a residential development for Neinor Homes in Madrid, to integrating wood and recycled aluminium in both new-build and renovation projects. We blend tradition with innovation to build responsibly.

Technology and people: the winning formula

Our team of over 100 professionals reflects the perfect balance between experience and fresh digital thinking. More than half have been part of HCP for over 12 years, contributing to a strong, resilient and value-driven culture.

This intergenerational collaboration allows us to lead complex, diverse projects, from the new headquarters of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre in Seville (in partnership with Danish firm BIG), to sustainable, community-focused university campuses.

Sustainable architecture: now and for the future

The interview also addressed today’s challenges in the architecture and construction sectors, such as reducing carbon footprints while maintaining economic feasibility. At HCP, we meet these demands with a clear strategy: combining innovation, adaptability and long-term thinking.

For us, sustainable architecture is not a trend, it’s a responsibility. Each project is an opportunity to shape more conscious, inclusive and resilient urban environments.
