This week, at HCP we have combined two of our main concerns: innovation and training. Within our R&D department we organise regular training sessions so that our team is always up to date with trends and tools, and on this occasion our BIM Manager, Pablo Gancedo, has prepared a short course for the whole HCP team, focused on how architectural firms can apply Artificial Intelligence to develop better projects.
Artificial Intelligence is revolutionising practically all industrial sectors, and architecture is no exception. That’s why our BIM manager wanted to start this internal training by helping us to see it as a powerful ally: with its help we can achieve more efficient and sustainable designs, and even more surprising ones!
However, although Artificial Intelligence can be defined as “a field of computer science that focuses on the development of computer systems and programs that can perform tasks that normally require human intelligence”, this does not mean that it can create architectural projects (or any other type of work) autonomously. On the contrary: what this means is that it is necessary for a person skilled in their field to be trained to know how to make the most of Artificial Intelligence tools.
This training is closely related to prompts, which are the commands or instructions we use to interact with AI systems. Through prompts we can ask these tools to perform a specific task, so the more precise we are in executing a request, the more likely we are to succeed, as these tools understand us very literally.
As the technology continues to advance we will see even more amazing applications of AI in this field, promising an exciting and transformative future for architecture.
