March is a special month in HCP’s calendar because we are attending MIPIM 2024, the largest international real estate trade fair. This is a very special occasion, as it is the thirteenth consecutive year (with the exception of 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic) that our firm has travelled to Cannes.
José Luis Moreno (Partner and General Coordinator of HCP), Jacobo Higuera (Operations Director) and Elena Pérez (Strategy and Planning Coordinator) will be the three people from our firm who will attend MIPIM 2024, which will take place from 12 to 15 March.
On the occasion of their upcoming trip, from the HCP blog we wanted to ask them a few questions to find out more about how they experience the fair from the inside, what the studio’s objectives are at this event and why MIPIM is an unmissable event for major global architecture firms.
Although HCP is already a veteran brand at MIPIM, this is the first time that Elena Pérez will be attending the event. Having a less “technical” profile, as she is not an architect, Elena approaches this experience with the aim of promoting a knowledge of our studio more focused on our way of working: “My expectation is to learn from the knowledge of the attendees and highlight the projects, culture and values that differentiate HCP“.
This is the fourth time that Jacobo Higuera has attended MIPIM, an event of which he highlights “the opportunity to see what the real estate sector is like around the world, the very diverse profiles that can be found there and how much can be learned”. For our Operations Director, this is a fundamental marketing and business development action to make us known internationally, “and even in Spain”.
What can attending an event like this bring to our studio? “We have been attending MIPIM for 13 years because it is one of the most important international events in the sector and allows us to strengthen our relationships with the most important developers and investment groups in the world, as well as sharing our knowledge and discussing the latest trends,” says José Luis Moreno. “At MIPIM we have made very valuable contacts, we won the Katara Hills project and started our relationship with Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), with whom we have participated in several competitions and are currently developing the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre in Seville,” adds Jacobo Higuera.
Finally, on a personal level, there are also many positive experiences that our managers highlight. “I hope to bring to the team the ambition and enthusiasm of a person who has just joined, but also all the knowledge I have of our studio due to the family relationship that links me to it. In this sense, I believe that attending MIPIM 2024 will allow me to acquire experience and sectorial knowledge that will contribute very positively to my personal and professional development”, says Elena Pérez.
Jacobo Higuera reinforces the idea of learning associated with attending this type of event. “In the first few years, I went to MIPIM mainly as a listener. Every time I get to know the company better and I see myself better able to talk to potential clients about what we do and everything we offer. It’s a very positive experience, although it’s also very tiring”, comments our Operations Director with a touch of humour.
Without a doubt, MIPIM 2024 is going to be a very enriching experience for José Luis, Jacobo and Elena, and we hope it will be for our clients as well. If you would like to meet the HCP team, we will be at stand P-1 M.50 in the Spanish Pavilion. We look forward to meeting you!
