This morning, the World Architecture 100 (WA100) list was released. Compiled annually by the prestigious international publication Building Design, the list recognizes the 100 most important architecture firms in the world and, for the first time, includes HCP in the architecture sector’s most prominent global ranking. The WA100 list, which dates back to 2011, takes into account factors such as the number of professionals on staff, revenue, and the number of offices to determine which architecture firms are the most significant on the international scene.
With a team of nearly 100 professionals, Javier Higuera, founding partner of HCP, highlights that this has been one of the factors enabling our firm’s inclusion in this ranking: “At HCP, we have always been committed to hiring professionals who want to grow and develop their careers with us. This means that 70% of our team comes from our own ranks, with an average tenure of nearly twelve years. Furthermore, in recent years we have experienced sustained growth that has allowed us to expand our staff by nearly 20% by 2023.”
International presence is another factor considered in compiling this list. In that regard, it is worth noting that although HCP is a local firm, we have a clear global focus, as we began our international journey more than twenty years ago—a journey that has led us to develop over 3,000 projects in 34 countries and to open offices in Bahrain and, soon, in Saudi Arabia.
As Alejandro Pérez, also a founding partner of our firm, notes, appearing on the WA 100 for the first time is the “culmination of a fantastic year” in which we have worked on major architecture, engineering, and urban planning projects both nationally and internationally. The development of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, in collaboration with BIG; the Pinomar and Angsana Real de la Quinta hotels (the latter in collaboration with OBMI) in Marbella; and the Santa Clara and Evergreen residential projects speak to the versatility of our portfolio and the maturity of our firm, as we are capable of both leading major projects and collaborating as a local partner with other international firms that we admire and alongside whom we have the honor of appearing on the WA100 list.
We would like to thank Building Design for this recognition, and our team, clients, and partners for supporting our commitment to quality, rigor, and innovation over the past 37 years.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the media for the wide coverage this news has received, having been featured in El Español, Diario Sur, La Opinión de Málaga, Málaga Hoy, Observatorio Inmobiliario, and Proarquitectura.
